Joanne offers individual counseling for women, men, adolescents, and children—in person, virtual, and telephone appointments are available. Individual counseling enables you to look intently at the issues that are getting you stuck. Managing stress and anxiety as well as depression and family issues are often addressed through one-on-one counseling with an experienced psychotherapist who understands and guides you towards solutions that help you move forward. Frequently, clients seek individual counseling for issues such as self-esteem, stress management, and relationship challenges (which may also be helped by Couples and Family Counseling. Others come with specific concerns about overeating, body image, food addiction, binge eating, and bulimia which can also be relieved by participation in designated Eating Disorder Psychotherapy Groups. Whether the concern involves an Eating Disorder, Binge Eating, Food Addiction, or any other addiction, Joanne helps the client develop strategies that offer forward movement, hope, and peace of mind.
Individual counseling can take many forms. Joanne has a background in modalities including psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, positive psychology, among others and she interchanges these techniques depending on the needs of the client. Joanne believes that therapy must be tailored to the individual in order to be successful.
During ordinary times, individual, group, couple, and family therapy take place in Joanne’s New York City and Highland Park, NJ offices, which are both centrally located and easily accessible via public transportation.
